Side Farm Camping, Patterdale, Ullswater

Side Farm campsite is located in Patterdale and lies on the south-eastern corner of Ullswater. The camp site and working farm are at the foot of the majestic Place Fell, and have magnificent views across and up the Grisedale valley towards the Helvellyn range, one of the most popular in the Lake District.

The campsite caters for tents and small and medium sized camper vans. Side Farm welcomes families, children and dogs, but unfortunately not single sex or large groups. Please note no fires are permitted but barbecues are allowed if raised off ground.

There is a tearoom at Side Farm which is open throughout the season, serving tea/coffee, ice creams, home made cakes and other delights. Please book in either at the tea room or the farmhouse between 08:00 and 22:00 at the latest.

Side Farm campsite makes the ideal base for the outdoor enthusiast and the Patterdale area is ideal for walking, fell running, mountain biking and hiking. The Helvellyn range, with Fairfield, St Sunday Crag, Dollywaggon Pike and the rest are all close by.

Side Farm camping is on the edge of Ullswater, which caters for the full range of watersports from sailing, and canoeing to swimming, and rowing. The Ullswater Steamers also run between Glenridding, Howtown and Pooley Bridge, and the popular walk back along the lake shore from Howtown passes right by Side Farm campsite.

Directions to Side Farm

From the M6 - Junction 36 - take the A591 to Windermere then the A592 over Kirkstone Pass to Patterdale. Turn right just past the school and follow signs to Side Farm. Book in at the farmhouse and follow track to the campsite.

From the M6 - Junction 40 take the A66 westwards and then the A592 which follows the Ullswater Road to Glenridding. Continue on toPatterdale. Go past the church on the left, and approx 300 yards on take a left turn before the school and follow signs to Side Farm. Book in at the farmhouse and follow track to the campsite.
