Things do around Pooley Bridge

There are also a number of attractions around Pooley Bridge and Ullswater, including Aira Force, a National Trust run waterfall, Dalemain House, a country house and gardens, and Rookin House Farm - an equestrian and activity centre.

Pooley Bridge and Ullswater is a popular venue for sailing, and there are many boat hire businesses. For those looking to explore the lake in a more relaxed manner, then the famous Ullswater Steamers sail from Glenridding to Howtown and Pooley Bridge. It is also a great place for fishing. Click here for more info on fishing in Ullswater.

As well as sailing, boating and cruising on the lake itself, Ullswater is surrounded by some of the best hill-walking the lake district has to offer. The second-highest mountain in England, Helvellyn, is most often climbed from either Glenridding or Patterdale. When you’ve reached the top you might as well continue round to do the Other peaks in the Helvellyn range, including St Sunday Crag, Dollywaggon Pike and Fairfield. In addition to the east of Ullswater is the majestic Place Fell, and the old Roman road of High Street.
