Wast water -  Britain’s Favourite view!

 

Wast water, or Wastwater in the Wasdale valley was voted "Britain’s favourite view" in a 2007 television survey and any visitor there would have to agree. It is a remote and unspoilt wilderness owned by the National Trust, and is overlooked by England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike. On the south-east side of the lake are the Screes, which rise from the lake almost 200 feet. The area around Wastwater provides a good range of camping and caravan sites as well as a great selection of attractions and things to do. Things do around Wastwater

 

Attractions around Wastwater: Wastwater! Enchanting and breathtaking. The Screes loom up from the lake shore, and the views towards Wasdale Head up the valley are spectacular. The highest fells in the lakes overlook Wastwater, including the 2 highest mountains in England, Scafell Pike and Scafell.

 

Wasdale Head is a popular if remote spot, and the nearby villages of Eskdale and Boot are also familiar lake district landmarks. It is also possible to catch the Ravenglass and Eskdale miniature railway from Boot to the picturesque coastal village of  Ravenglass.
